BAO PHI has been a performance poet since 1991. A two-time Minnesota Grand Slam champion and a National Poetry Slam finalist, Bao Phi has appeared on HBO Presents Russell Simmons Def Poetry. His poems are widely published numerous publications including Screaming Monkeys, Spoken Word Revolution Redux and the 2006 Best American Poetry Anthology. He has also released several CDs of his poetry, such as the recently sold-out Refugeography to his newest CD, The Nguyens EP. He has performed as a featured artist and speaker in over a hundred venues and schools across the country, from the Nuyorican Poets Café to the University of California, Berkeley.

Currently he continues to perform across the country, remains active as an Asian American community organizer, writes a popular and provocative blog on the Twin Cities’ Star Tribune's Your Voices community blog, and works at the Loft in Minneapolis, where he creates and operates programs for artists and audiences of color.

I will try to get the info up for the SULU NYC show by the end of the week, but it's at the Bowery Poetry Club, Sun, Sept. 19, 2010.  Show starts at 8pm.  I believe admission is $10.

The SULU NYC show is extra-special b/c it's their 5-Year Anniversary and will be their last monthly SULU show.  Please come and say good-bye to an important, path-blazing monthly series which high-lighted Asian American artists and gave APIA audiences a space we could call our own.

Hope to see you!

Love,
Michelle
