Update on Ling and Lee: Please Sign the Petition!
Dear Petitioners:
Thank you for signing our letter to free Laura Ling and Euna Lee. Your help does make a difference! It has been over a month now that these Americans have been detained in North Korea. Laura and Euna will stand trial, in the North Korean communist regime, for illegal entry and face an average of 10 years in a forced labor camp or prison, the conditions of which are less than humane for even deranged animals. North Korea believes Ling and Lee to have posed a threat by investigating reports of the human trafficking of escaped North Korean refugees; refugees who, if caught escaping, are sent back to North Korea to be executed, or are trafficked to pimps for sexual or labor servitude.
It is also certain that these women, due to their popularity, have been seen by the North Korean government as having political value as hostages during this country's globally unpopular missile testing. It will take a large amount of outcry from the people of all nations to sway North Korean sentiment to have these American women released.
So far, our petition has gathered signers and representatives of organizations both liberal and conservative, democrat and republican, from all walks of life, ethnicities and religious beliefs that total over 25,000 people from New York to Hawaii. This is what it takes. We will be sending the first transmission of our petition to U.S. Congress and to selected embassies at the end of this month. We urge you to take a few minutes out of your day to encourage at least one other friend, family member, or colleague to sign our petition to free Laura Ling and Euna Lee at www.traffickjamming.org/petition.html
We may feel that individually we have no political power, but together we have the power of the vote and we must use that power to send a message to our elected officials to put Euna and Laura on their priority list. This is the kind of change the majority of Americans voted for. Let's see this in action. The mainstream media has dropped all coverage of these hostages, so we must act as just and caring Americans for the survival and health of our own overseas.
After our first transmission, our petition will remain on our website to accrue more signers. We will be sending updates to Congress and to the Embassies on a regular monthly basis until the American hostages are freed. Our fellow Americans need your help. Please spread the word and keep the pressure on North Korea. They cannot be allowed to do this to innocent people investigating the truth.
In solidarity,
